Recently there have been several reputable locations to now have your cat groomed. For the most part, cats are very fastidious groomers and can keep their own hair coats in check. Cats in general do not require regular bathing unless they have been diagnosed with a skin/hair problem or many owners have also found regular grooming does help THEM with their cat allergies (due to the cat’s hair). If your cat is well behaved and tolerates bathing/grooming we do recommend several of our area’s groomers. Unfortunately, most cats DO NOT tolerate grooming or their haircoats are badly matted requiring shaving the coat down. These are the types of groomings that we perform. Because we are a hospital with a doctor on staff at all times, we can use anesthesia or sedation to safely and efficiently bath, perform sanitary cuts (trim the hair under the tail and back legs) or the infamous “lion cut” (see pic). Our lion cuts do not have the long neck mane as seen in the picture. Lion cuts may be necessary when a cat (often times a Persian or Himalayan) becomes severely matted and combing out the mats are not an option. Call our office for more info on our groomings.
